Welcome to use the electronic services provided by the Companies Registry at the e-Registry.

A full scale electronic submission service covering 84 specified forms and related documents required for registration under the Companies Ordinance (Chapter 622) and the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Chapter 32) is available at the e-Registry portal. To facilitate submission of documents by companies registered under the Companies Ordinance, the e-Registry also provides other related electronic services.

Delivery of documents in electronic form to the Registrar of Companies under miscellaneous Ordinances administered by the Registrar is also available through this portal round the clock daily. Please refer to ‘Documents under Miscellaneous Ordinances Administered by the Registrar of Companies which can be Delivered through e-Registry’ for the coverage of the service.

Requirements for Documents Delivered for Registration under Various Ordinances with effect from 27 December 2023


Starting from 27 December 2023, upon the launch of the Companies Registry’s Revamped Integrated Companies Registry Information System (“Revamped ICRIS”), the electronic submission services provided through the e-Filing Services under the new e-Services Portal will replace the current electronic submission services provided under the e-Registry and GovHK.

To facilitate the launch of the Revamped ICRIS, the Registrar of Companies (“the Registrar”) has, in exercise of the power under various Ordinances, specified the requirements for documents to be delivered in electronic form or in other form to the Registrar for registration under various Ordinances.

Launch of Revamped Integrated Companies Registry Information System and New e-Services Portal of the Companies Registry on 27 December 2023


The Companies Registry will launch the Revamped Integrated Companies Registry Information System (the “Revamped ICRIS”) on 27 December 2023. The Revamped ICRIS, which will replace the existing information systems, will support the Registry’s main business operations and provide convenient round-the-clock electronic search and document submission services to customers through a new single integrated online platform, namely the e-Services Portal.

The existing electronic services of the Registry provided under the Cyber Search Centre, the Company Search Mobile Service, the e-Registry and the CR e-Filing Mobile Application will continue until the close of business on 22 December 2023 (Friday) . The exact time of cessation of the existing ICRIS services will be announced nearer the time.

Updated existing e-Form Templates


ALL existing e-form templates had been updated for applying a new e-Certificate for system authentication. There are no changes to the content and layout of the e-forms. The updated templates were issued on 29 October 2023. E-forms submitted in the old templates downloaded from the e-Registry before 7 a.m. on 29 October (Hong Kong time) will not be accepted with effect from 10 December 2023.

Implementation of Phase 2 of Unique Business Identifier for Entities under the Administration of the Registrar of Companies


The Companies Registry undertakes to implement Unique Business Identifier (“UBI”) by two phases for entities under the administration of the Registrar of Companies. Business Registration Number (“BRN”) (i.e. the first eight digits of the Business Registration Certificate number) assigned by the Business Registration Office of the Inland Revenue Department is adopted as the UBI of companies and entities. Phase 1 was implemented for Limited Partnership Funds with effect from 1 November 2021. Phase 2 will be implemented on 27 December 2023 to cover limited companies and various other entities.

Key features of Phase 2 of UBI on relevant companies and entities with effect from 27 December 2023 include:-

BRN will be adopted as the “No.” on the “Certificate of Incorporation”, “Certificate of Registration”, or “Certificate of Change of Name” issued by the Registry;

BRN, instead of the existing company registration number, will have to be quoted on specified forms and documents delivered to the Registry; and

BRN will be the key number for searching and identifying a company or entity under different services of the Registry.

Use of Revised e-Forms after Implementation of Phase 2 of the New Inspection Regime


Upon implementation of Phase 2 of the New Inspection Regime on 24 October 2022, e-forms of 26 revised specified forms will be put into use. Existing version of related e-forms will NOT be accepted for first submission or relodgement with effect from the same date. You may refer to the Companies Registry External Circular No. 4/2022 for more details.

(1) Revised Approach for Rectification of Information on the Companies Register upon Implementation of Phase 2 of New Inspection Regime
(2) Suspension of Electronic Submission Service for Rectification of Registered Documents


Phase 2 of the New Inspection Regime of the Companies Register under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) will commence on 24 October 2022 (“the Commencement Date”). Starting from the Commencement Date, the Registrar of Companies must not make available for public inspection the usual residential addresses of directors and the full numbers of the identity cards or passports of directors, company secretaries and some other individuals (“Protected Information”).

As such, the current approach for rectification of information on the Companies Register has to be revised to ensure that Protected Information contained in amended documents will not be made available for public inspection on rectification of information on the Companies Register. Starting from 24 October 2022, an application to rectify a typographical or clerical error contained in a document already registered with the Companies Registry can be made by a company by using a new administrative form, Form AD - Rectification of Typographical or Clerical Error in Registered Document. For details, please refer to the Companies Registry External Circular No. 6 / 2022 issued today.

Electronic submission service for amended documents via “Online Submission > Rectification of Registered Documents” at the e-Registry will be suspended from 24 October 2022. Submission of Form AD will only be accepted in paper for the time being.

Extension of Electronic Submission Services to Documents Delivered under Various Ordinances and Miscellaneous Services

With effect from 27 June 2022, the Companies Registry will extend the coverage of electronic submission services to documents delivered to the Registrar of Companies under various Ordinances and other miscellaneous services, including but not limited to documents under Trustee Ordinance (Cap. 29), Limited Partnerships Ordinance (Cap. 37), Registered Trustees Incorporation Ordinance (Cap. 306), Securities and Futures (Open-ended Fund Companies) Rules (Cap. 571AQ) and Limited Partnership Fund Ordinance (Cap. 637), and forms for application for refund.

In addition to electronic submission services provided through the e-Registry portal (www.eregistry.gov.hk), new electronic templates and submission services will also be provided through GovHK (www.gov.hk).

Revision of 26 Specified Forms for Implementation of Phase 2 of New Inspection Regime and Cessation of TPSI / CR-eFiling Service for some e-Forms

As announced in the Companies Registry External Circular No. 1/2021 issued on 16 August 2021, the New Inspection Regime of the Companies Register under the Companies Ordinance would be implemented in three phases with Phase 2 to take effect from 24 October 2022.

To facilitate the implementation of Phase 2 of the New Inspection Regime, 26 specified forms which pertain to the reporting of Protected Information have been revised for use starting from 24 October 2022. The revised specified forms were published in the Gazette today (G.N. 3130 and G.N. 3168). Please refer to the Companies Registry External Circular No. 1/2022 for details.

With effect from 24 October 2022, electronic forms of the 26 revised specified forms will be made available for use under “Online Submission” service at the e-Registry. However, the support for submission of 10 forms (Forms NAR1, ND2A, ND2B, ND4, ND5, ND7, ND8, NNC1, NNC1G and NN3) through the “Third Party Software Interface” (TPSI) and of nine forms (Forms NAR1, ND2A, ND2B, ND4, ND5, ND7, ND8, NNC1 and NNC1G) through the “CR eFiling” mobile application, which contain Protected Information, will no longer be provided starting from 24 October 2022.

The Registry is undergoing a system revamp project and, upon the launch of the revamped system in December 2023, new TPSI service and mobile-friendly electronic submission service will be provided for the relevant specified forms.
